Vaporwave Style & Kathy Hochul

After getting a new faded haircut this week, I decided to give my website homepage a fresh look. I have been experimenting with a “vaporwave” graphic design style, which is sort of a 1980s style with lines similar to the radar in the first Star Wars, where Luke is trying to find the place to shoot the torpedo at the Death Star. Please check out the homepage to see the new vaporwave web banner – I think it looks much cleaner than all the text, which moved to a new “About” page.

I have also been working on some new political images now that Mikie Sherrill is officially the governor of New Jersey. I have decided to make a new image of Kathy Hochul, the governor of my mother’s home state of New York.

I have been filling in for my friend Rich at Crown Tire for the last few weeks while he was out for surgery. I am back to running Magick Mechanic, yet it was fun to work at a tire shop for a while and get a few paychecks. The owner, Jeff, is a very cool guy and an inspirational entrepreneur. I recommend Crown Tire to anyone looking for new or used tires in the North Jersey Area or for an alignment, flat repair, or other basic automotive repair service.

Captured by Capitaland

I have evolved from a tire shop mechanic into a dealership mechanic. I was very sad to leave Larry O’Shea, yet Capitaland made me such a good offer that I could not refuse. I have also decided to stay on probation here in New York and not pursue a trial by jury for the cases in Texas. I have wanted to focus on improving my mechanic skills and Subaru/GMC are both brands that I really enjoy servicing.

My grandfather died before I was born, yet he fought in the war with Japan and so I like to work on Japanese cars. I was also named after him and the original “Matthew Szal” grew up in Brooklyn. This is another reason I wanted to go to Pratt so much was on account of him. I also like GMC vehicles, which are really good American family vehicles, and utility cars/trucks.

I may still do graphic design work for Adirondack Tire, yet I may have to stop working for them entirely and stop running Magick Mechanic. I hope to start a family soon now that I can support one and I have never been more hopefully for the future.

The Mechanic Wizard

My business, Magick Mechanic, has finally been created as an actual LLC although we have been DBA since December 2022. My business partner Will and I have big plans to expand in the DFW area along with Los Angeles and New York. The basic idea is to provide people with an affordable option that is more convenient since the mechanic travels to where ever the car is located.
We also purchase cars that no longer run and tune them up for resale. Our first two project cars were a Monte Carlo 2002 and a 1998 Grand Marquis. We have since sold both cars after buying them in a condition where they will not start or run.

I learned a lot while working at Warren Tire and National Tire & Battery for the last few years. I don’t blog much about my mechanic work since I mainly use my website for my creative projects.
Yet, I hope to have a broad skill set like a “Renaissance Man.” If they were alive today, Leonardo or Giotto would have been animating things on the computer, working on cars, and painting or drawing in traditional media.

These are the two cars we brought back to life…
